“There was a chaotic drama in the Senegal National Assembly after a deputy from Macky Sall’s APR party, Abdou Mbow, was forcibly prevented from speaking.
While Deputy Mbow was addressing his fellow deputies, the President of the Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, ordered security officers to remove him from the podium.
APR deputies opposed a bill proposed by Sonko’s Pastef party, which seeks to amend the Constitution.
They see it as an attempt to reduce the powers of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.”
