Keffe D has been sentenced to 40 years to life in prison on October 13, 2026, for orchestrating the 1996 drive-by shooting of rap icon Tupac Shakur.

The Charges: The 63-year-old former leader of the South Side Compton Crips was convicted in August 2026 of first-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon.

The Penalty: Judge Carli Kierny handed down a sentence of 20 years to life for the first-degree murder charge, plus a mandatory consecutive 20 years to life for the deadly weapon enhancement, resulting in an aggregate sentence of 40 years to life.

Time Served: Davis received 731 days of credit for time already served. Because of the severity of the sentence, he will not be eligible for parole until he is at least 100 years old.

Key Case Details

The Evidence: The prosecution’s case relied heavily on Davis’s own public statements. After years of silence, Davis began bragging about his role in the killing in media interviews and his 2019 memoir, Compton Street Legend, which effectively voided a previous immunity agreement he had with law enforcement.

The Motive: Prosecutors established that Davis acted as the “shotcaller” who ordered the retaliatory attack. The shooting occurred following a casino brawl earlier that night involving Shakur’s entourage and Davis’s nephew, Orlando Anderson.

The Appeal: Following the sentencing, Davis maintained that he intends to appeal the conviction. He remains the only person ever arrested and charged in connection with Shakur’s death.
