Nottingham Forest transfer latest – £22m bid being considered, midfielder ‘talks’, Hutchinson eyed
Transfer deadline day is fast approaching as Nottingham Forest look to put the finishing touches to Oliver Glasner’s squad.
Striker Liam Delap became the Reds’ fourth recruit of the summer when he joined from Chelsea on Thursday for an initial £45 million. Further business is expected before the window closes at 11pm on September 1, with head coach Glasner having said he expects at least one more signing.
Indeed, incomings and outgoings could still be possible in the coming days. Below, the Nottingham Post rounds up the latest transfer news and gossip.
Getting Delap through the City Ground doors solves a big piece of Forest’s transfer puzzle. It leaves a right-back at the top of their shopping list in the final days of the window.
Crystal Palace’s Daniel Munoz is a name in the frame to plug that gap. If a deal gets done, it would mean a reunion with Glasner after the pair worked together in the capital.
According to The Athletic, the Reds have put forward a bid worth £22m for the 30-year-old – made up of an initial £20m fee and £2m in potential add-ons. The Eagles are said to be “considering whether to accept” the offer for the player, who has two years remaining on his contract.
The Nottingham Post says: It is perhaps a little bit unusual for Forest to target a player of Munoz’s age. But given he knows Glasner and could comfortably slot into the Austrian’s playing style in the Premier League, this particular link does make sense.
Palace have already strengthened in the Colombian’s position so would have little need to search for a replacement before selling. He would provide some much-needed competition in a key position for the Reds.
Prior to Delap’s arrival, Glasner had been clear about targeting a further two signings. The striker is one of them and a right wing-back will be the other, but a midfielder should also not be ruled out.
A string of names have continued to be linked with a switch to the City Ground. It might be the Reds end up adding to their Brazilian contingent.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has said the club are “working on” a deal for Corinthians’ Andre. It is said “talks” are taking place, with “details of (the) package” being discussed.
Talk of a potential €15m (£13m) fee has been doing the rounds for the 20-year-old. AC Milan reportedly had an offer rejected in March that could have exceeded €20m (£17m).
The Nottingham Post says: Midfield has been a bit of a problem area for Glasner in the first couple of games. The two partnerships he has gone with (first, Ibrahim Sangare and James McAtee, then Xaver Schlager and Nicolas Dominguez) both had their struggles against Leeds United.
It certainly wouldn’t come as a surprise to see a new addition in this department before the deadline. Andre fits the club’s strategy of signing young players with the potential to improve and increase in value. He would also be quickly made to feel at home given fellow countrymen John Victor, Murillo, Morato, Jair Cunha and Igor Jesus are already in the ranks.
Forest could sanction departures as well as arrivals before the window’s cut-off. And it might be they soon have a decision to make regarding Omari Hutchinson.
The wide man has been identified as a possible target for AC Milan by the Daily Mail. The Italian side are reportedly “showing interest” in Hutchinson, who was a late substitute in Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup defeat to Leeds.
It is said the former Ipswich Town man “would be open” to the move. A loan deal with an obligation to buy is reportedly the most likely route for Milan, if they decide to follow up their interest.
The Nottingham Post says: As with a number of players, it was a tricky season for Hutchinson on the banks of the Trent last time around. Perhaps more so for him than others given he was the club’s record signing at the time.
He has shown flashes of what he is capable of since then but injury niggles have hindered him early on this term. There is also a question mark over to what extent the wingers in Forest’s squad can fit into Glasner’s system.
The Austrian prefers to work with a tight-knit squad so some calls about potential exits may need to be made anyway. It all points to a big few days ahead.
Hutchinson is not the only player to be linked with a possible exit. Fichajes claim Atletico Madrid are eyeing up Jesus while Roma have been linked with Morato.
