POLL: Should Manchester United’s third midfield summer signing be Carlos Baleba?
Man Utd are trying to sign another midfielder before the summer transfer deadline and Brighton star Carlos Baleba is on their radar.
After weeks of speculation we finally have another update on Manchester United’s midfield rebuild.
United are in talks to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton, with a bid worth up to £65million tabled (£60m up front and £5m in add-ons). United looked at Baleba last summer but were put off by the Seagulls’ whopping £100m price tag.
Baleba struggled last season and made just 23 starts for Fabian Hurzeler’s side in the Premier League. But that hasn’t stopped United from reigniting their interest in the 22-year-old this summer.
This is clearly not a knee-jerk move given United’s long-standing interest in the youngster, but would adding a 22-year-old to an already relatively young pool of midfield options really be the smartest move? At £65m Baleba wouldn’t be cheap, but he would be a lot cheaper than if he’d made the move to Old Trafford last summer.
There are plenty of things to weigh up when deciding whether Baleba is the man United should be targeting, and we want you to have your say.
Let us know in the poll below whether you think Baleba should be United’s third midfield signing of the summer:
