Burkina Faso’s leader, Ibrahim Traoré, reportedly stated that no religion is greater than the nation
Burkina Faso’s leader, Ibrahim Traoré, reportedly stated that no religion is greater than the nation and that Sharia law will never be implemented in Burkina Faso. He also said the country has no room for religious extremism.
According to the claim, Traoré said that more than 800 Burkinabè are currently in Saudi Arabia, where they are allegedly studying Sharia law instead of fields such as science, engineering, or technology. He reportedly warned that they would not be allowed to return and impose those beliefs or laws on Burkina Faso.
His message was that the country’s constitution and laws come first, regardless of religion. He added that anyone who wishes to live under a different legal system should practice it in a country where it
is officially recognized.
