China-Based Nigerian Graduate Stuns Audience with a Fluent Mandarin Keynote Speech at His Graduation from a Chinese University
Nigerian graduate Nnabuike Chisom went viral for delivering a flawless keynote speech in fluent Mandarin at the Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) master’s graduation ceremony in China. Representing nearly 4,000 international students, he captivated the audience with his confidence and a surprise traditional Chinese clapper talk.
Chisom, who also goes by his Chinese name Qi Yunsong, noted that he did not know a single Chinese word a decade ago. Today, he speaks the language so naturally that his speech, which described himself as an African “cassava plant” rooted in the fertile soil of China, earned massive praise online . He charmed the crowd by praising the university staff and even highlighted a lighthearted local favorite—that the campus cafeteria staff never skimps on portions . Following his master’s degree, Chisom plans to stay at
ZUEL to pursue his PhD.
