Iran war live: Trump rejects Tehran’s proposal to reopen Hormuz within days
- Donald Trump says he rejects Iran’s proposal of a seven-day roadmap to end the war, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume nuclear talks. The US president claimed Tehran wants a deal because “they are dying – the money isn’t coming in”.
- Earlier, Iran’s military warned that all US deployment centres and interests in the Middle East will be targeted if Washington “makes a mistake” of attacking the country, according to the semi-official Mehr news agency.
- US State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott tells Al Jazeera that the door to diplomacy with Iran has been open since the beginning, saying that “it’s not the United States that has stopped that from happening”.
- Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian tells Al Jazeera that those who “thought they could target the Iranian people with sanctions miscalculated” and that Qatar and Pakistan are relaying Tehran’s messages to the US.
