Man Found Dead In Bayelsa Guest House After Spending Night With Unidentified Woman

A 40-year-old mobile phone technician identified simply as Felix has been found dead inside a guest house in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, after reportedly spending the night with an unidentified woman, sparking a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The deceased, who was said to be from Cross River State, was discovered naked inside a room at Diko Guest House along Azikoro Road in the Ekeki area of Yenagoa on Wednesday morning.

According to eyewitnesses, the body was discovered after a cleaner raised an alarm while attempting to clean the room occupied by the deceased.

The woman who reportedly checked into the guest house with Felix was said to have disappeared before the incident was discovered, and her identity remains unknown.

The incident drew dozens of traders and shop owners from the nearby Seriake Dickson Shopping Complex, where the deceased worked as a mobile phone repairer, as they gathered to mourn his sudden death.

Witnesses who visited the scene before it was cordoned off by security operatives said several sachets of alcoholic drinks were found beside the bed in the room.

Police sources confirmed that three persons were initially taken into custody in connection with the incident.

The owner of the guest house and a cleaner are currently being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s brother, Dennis, who was found in possession of Felix’s mobile phone, was also detained briefly before being released after providing what police described as a satisfactory explanation.

Dennis, who also works as a mobile phone technician at the Seriake Dickson Shopping Complex, explained that the phone had been handed to him by a pay-charge operator after relatives and colleagues were unable to locate his brother.
